I'm going to be preaching a series of sermons on the whole of the Gospel of Mark. This video gives some background information to the gospel and argues that it is a very trustworthy and reliable record of the ministry and teaching of Jesus Christ.

In this passage Jesus teaches with authority, he heals people and casts out demons.

Prayer and preaching were priorities for Jesus. In these verses he also heals a leper.

The reliability of this passage is questioned by many. Statements in most of our modern translations of the bible say that it.s not in the earliest Geek manuscripts. I discuss this issue in the video and make my own conclusions.

The women go to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus with spices. Despite Jesus telling his followers that he would rise on the third day, the women expect Jesus dead body to still be there and the stone to be in front of the tomb. In this video I deal with the thinking of those who suggest the gospel accounts of the resurrection contradicts each other. Further the argument of sceptics that going to anoint the body of Jesus was pointless after the body would have already decayed in the heat. I counter the sceptics conclusions that the early Christians made up this story to account for the missing body of Jesus. I conclude that resurrection was real and this is a genuine account.

Joseph of Arimathea goes to Pilate to ask Pilate for the body of Jesus. Pilate wonders if Jesus really was dead, but his death is confirmed by the Centurion. Joseph takes the body and wrapped it in a linen shroud. He laid Jesus in a tomb cut out of rock and rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph (or Joses depending how you translate it,) look on.

In this talk, I comment on the three hours of darkness and what I believe Jesus might well have gone through as he hung there on the cross. I note the cry of dereliction as he experienced separation from the father as the sin of humanity was laid on him. But I also note that at the very end he gave a loud cry, that John reports as "It is finished." I then talk about the amazing event of the curtain in the temple being torn in two. Further I discuss the reaction of the centurion who stood opposite Jesus on the cross. I mention the named women who followed Jesus from Galilee, who on the third day recieved the news of the resurrection.

In this video I discuss Mark's short but information packed account of the execution of Jesus. I address the question of whether Jesus was executed on a cross or a stake. I also look at how Jesus further fulfils scripture prophecies during his time on the cross and how the passers by, and the chief priests and scribes misunderstand Jesus teaching about his mission and purposes.

Jesus is taken into the Praetorium by the Roman Soldiers, where they mock him before taking him out to crucify him. This really does show their distain for the Jews by mocking Jesus as "King of the Jews." It also shows and the depths to which human beings can fall.

In this video I discuss evidence, outside the New Testament, for the existence of Jesus but also Pontius Pilate. I look at the writings of Tacitus and Josephus and conclude that the behaviour of Pilate in Mark 15 is not inconsistant with his behaviour at other times with the Jews. I briefly discuss Pilate's question to Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" I argue this is Pilate's attempt to assess whether Jesus is intending to lead a major rebellion. I also consider the likelihood of Pilate releasing a prisoner and particularly Barabbas who had been bound for murder during an insurrection. I conclude with a comment about Jesus willingness to go through this trial leading to his crucifixion.
